Posted on February 7, 2023 by ArticleManager

SAMSUNG’s newly released Note 10+ has supported 45W high-power charging, and Samsung has also launched a 45W USB PD fast charging charger with mobile phones. After learning the news, the charging head network successively entered and disassembled the European and American versions of this charger, and shared with the friends for the first time.

In this article, the charging head network will continue to bring you the in-depth disassembly of the Samsung Samsung National Bank version 45W PD fast charging charger, and let’s take a look at the internal structure and materials are different from the previous two.

First, the appearance of Samsung’s original 45W USB PD charger

The National Bank version charger adopts a white outer box, the upper end of the box has a hook design, the front top is the Samsung brand, the middle is printed with the charger and CC cable appearance drawing, and the product name is printed below.

On the back is the parameter information of the Chinese version of the product.

Unpacked, it contains charger, CC cable, three-pack voucher card and toxic and hazardous substances table.

This time the disassembled is the Bank of China version, the entire charger adopts a black body shell, and the surface is all matte, non-stick fingerprints, and the front center is the lightning logo and the words “Super Fast Charging”.

Detailed product information on the back of the charger, model: EP-TA845; Input: 100-240V~50/60HZ 1.2A; Output: 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V2.25A, 3.3-11V/4.05A or 3.3-16V/2.8A or 3.3-21V/2.1A three groups of PPS voltage gears; The products are made in Vietnam and OEM. At present, it has passed 3C certification and VI energy efficiency certification.

The input is a fixed national standard pin.

There is a clamping line for the shell on the side of the housing.

The charger is a single USB-C interface, and the interface panel is also matte and has a flat surface.

A visual comparison of the size of the Apple 30W charger, the volume is comparable.

The thickness is slightly larger than the diameter of a dollar coin.

The net weight is about 88g.

Using the ChargerLAB POWER-Z KT001 to read the protocol of the Samsung 45W fast charger, it was found that the USB-DCP protocol was supported, and no other charging protocols were detected.

SAMSUNG 45W fast charger supports four fixed gears of 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/2.25A and three PPS gears of 3.3V-11V/3A, 3.3V-16V/3A, 3.3V-21V/2.25A.

Second, Samsung original 45W USB PD charger disassembled

Pry open along the edge gap of the top surface, basically can be disassembled without loss, you can see that the output end is welded with solid capacitors, USB-C interfaces, blue Y capacitors and other components.

Remove the PCB board, the upper end of the transformer is covered with a black insulation board and a metal heat sink.

There is a groove on each side of the fuselage shell to fix the PCB board, and the metal shrapnel and the PCB board are conducted through contact.

Looking at the entire PCB board, you can see that the components on the edge of the board are glued and fixed, and there is an insulating board between the electrolytic capacitor and the transformer and the USB interface for isolation.

The input is welded with a delay fuse, a common-mode inductor, a safety X capacitor, a rectifier bridge, and a PWM main control chip power supply capacitor.

Safety X capacitors are printed with the word 100n on the top.

Remove the common-mode inductor to see the specification information of the safety X capacitor.

The input is a D4KB10 rectifier bridge.

The power supply capacitor of the main control chip is provided by CapXon and is specified in 50V 10μF.

The side of the PCB board is soldered with a thermistor, a common-mode inductor, and three primary filter electrolytic capacitors.

The three electrolytic capacitors are also from CapXon, in 400V 22μF and 400V 15μF sizes, three in parallel for a total of 59μF.

The transformer basically occupies the center position of the board.

Close-up of the transformer, with model information printed on it, and the secondary uses multi-layer insulated wire, four wires wound in parallel.

The output has two solid capacitors, a USB-C interface, and a blue Y capacitor.

The two output filter solid capacitors have the same specifications, both are 300μF 30V, and the two are connected in parallel.

On the back of the PCB board, the main heating components are glued to assist heat dissipation.

Clean up the silicone, the primary secondary boundary is obvious, the separation distance is safe enough, Toyo OEM.

PI X capacitive discharge chip CAP200DG, can be discharged for X capacitance through the discharge resistor after disconnecting the alternating current, avoid the power consumption of the X capacitor discharge resistor, its built-in withstand voltage 1000V MOS tube, only two terminals, high reliability and easy to use, effectively improve the energy efficiency of the charger.

PI CAP200DG details.

The main control chip of the charger is the material number SC1920C customized by Samsung to PI, which belongs to the InnoSwitch3-Pro family. The chip has built-in primary PWM controller, primary switch transistor, secondary synchronous rectification controller, etc.

Detailed specifications of the PI InnoSwitch3-Pro.

Next to the main control chip is a secondary synchronous rectifier MOS tube, silkscreen 10N070, 100V withstand voltage, NMOS tube.

Samsung Samsung self-produced MM101 series secondary protocol IC, charging head network in May this year has a related report on this chip.

After all dismantling, come to a family portrait

Charging head net disassembly summary

The disassembly of the charging head network found that the main control chip of Samsung’s National Bank version of the 45W charger comes from PI’s InnoSwitch3-Pro series, which is a customized product with a very high degree of integration, which effectively reduces the number of components on the PCB board. In terms of protocol, it is equipped with SAMSUNG’s own newly released MM101 series, which not only supports USB PD fast charging, but also has three PPS gears to achieve 10V/4.5A fast charging of Samsung Note10+ and Note10+ 5G.

In addition, a PI X capacitor discharge chip is also used at the input of the charger to improve the energy efficiency of the whole machine. The internal component layout is neat and beautiful, the transformer also adds a heat sink, and the components are treated by glue injection to play a role in heat dissipation and component fixation. The performance of the entire product is guaranteed.
