On March 26, 2020, Huawei P40 series launched three models at the global online conference: P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro+. Among them, Huawei P40 Pro+ is equipped with 40W ultra-high-power wireless super fast charging, while Huawei P40 does not have wireless charging function.
Although the P40 does not have a standard wireless charging function, Huawei officials have developed a mobile phone case with wireless charging function. With this accessory, the P40 can be transformed into a “wireless charging phone” that supports 22.5W super fast charging. The charging head network has also recently purchased this wireless charging protective case, and I will share the detailed disassembly of this product for you.
Previously, the charging head network also disassembled the wireless charging case of Huawei P30 mobile phone, unlike the P40 protective case, this product only supports 10W wireless charging.
First, the appearance of Huawei P40 wireless charging mobile phone protective case
Huawei family packaging box with product appearance pictures, brand logo, product selling points and other information printed on the front. As can be seen from the bottom of the box, Huawei P40 wireless charging case supports 22.5W wireless fast charging function, is compatible with Qi standards, and has passed the German Rheinland safety certification.
The back of the box uses multi-national characters to explain the main selling points of this product, and remind users that this product needs to be equipped with a Huawei wireless charger above 27W and a Huawei charger above 40W to achieve the 22.5W super fast charging wireless charging function.
Inside the box, the phone case is wrapped with a white paper tray for protection.
In addition to the protective shell body, only the instruction manual and the certificate of conformity are available.
This protective case is blue overall, with a subtle matte feel, non-slip and fingerprint-free, and is also embellished with cyan spots for a bit of an artistic painting.
The center axis of the protective case is printed with the HUAWEI logo and the words Wireless Charging. Slightly raised near the input connector.
The camera is located with rectangular holes and rounded corners.
A rigid plastic plate is attached to the inside of the case, the color is consistent with the main part of the case, and it also has a subtle matte feel. The product parameter information is printed below.
The parameter information on the inside of the protective case shows that it has passed RoHS, EAC, Qi, CE and other certifications, and supports Huawei’s super fast charging wireless charging function.
A small hole is opened at the top of the case corresponding to the position of the phone’s microphone.
Close-up of the side volume button and power button.
There is a USB-C port on the bottom of the case, purple rubber core.
The bottom of the case has reserved speaker holes, microphone cutouts, and a USB-C charging port for wired charging.
In the case of no load, the ChargerLAB POWER-Z KM001C test standby current is about 0.018A and the power is about 0.01W.
The thickness of the protective case is equivalent to half the diameter of a dollar coin.
The net weight of the protective case is about 49g, which is comparable to the ordinary silicone protective case.
Second, Huawei P40 wireless charging mobile phone protective case disassembly
Remove the rigid plastic plate on the inside of the case, centering on a wireless charging receiver coil.
Next to the coil is a black circuit board for wireless charging reception. The position of the coils and circuit board inside the protective case is hollowed out to reduce thickness.
Remove the coil and PCB board, and it can be seen that the component surface of the PCB board is coated with silicone thermal conduction. The yellow FPC on the PCB board is connected to the USB-C input interface, and the black FPC below is connected to the USB-C output interface.

The SC8101 synchronous rectifier buck converter from Nanxin has input voltages ranging from 5V to 32V. By setting the divider resistor, the output voltage is regulated to a fixed 5.1 volts or a custom voltage. It also provides high-precision output current limiting, when the output reaches the set current limit, the inverter enters constant current (CC) mode; The total output power can be programmed by a resistor for constant power control, and the built-in switch provides a 5V5A output.
The SC8101 integrates a 45mΩ high-side NMOS and a 30mΩ low-side NMOS to achieve high efficiency. In addition, it provides a low-end gate driver (LSD) to drive an external NMOS and work with the built-in NMOS. Using programmable line loss compensation, programmable frequency setting, minimum external components, can achieve maximum functionality for different applications of users, Nanxin SC8101 adopts 3x3x0.55mmQFN package, ultra-thin and ultra-small can be placed inside equipment with limited space.

USB-C interface input overvoltage and overcurrent protection element.
The USB-C input interface comes from KRCON and is customized by Huawei.
Output USB-C interface close-up, fixed directly to the housing via plastic.
The solder joint between the wireless charging receiver coil and the PCB board is full and rounded, and the coil is wound with 8 enameled wires to reduce thickness and impedance.
The positive and negative solder joints on both sides of the USB-C interface FPC are widened to reduce the resistance so that large currents can pass through.

Charging head net disassembly summary
Huawei P40 wireless charging mobile phone protective case shape is cool and stylish, not only can protect the mobile phone, but also make the P40 seconds that did not have wireless charging function become a wireless fast charging mobile phone, and the charging power can be comparable to Huawei SCP super fast charging, so that wireless charging can reach the speed of wired charging, improve user experience.
The charging head network learned through disassembly that this wireless charger uses the wireless charging receiver chip of easy-to-punch semiconductor, with high integration and simple peripherals. Synchronous rectifier buck chip Nanxin SC8101 and USB-C interface controller Cypress CYPD4236, also have a high degree of integration, which brings convenience to the design of small PCB board, SC8101 will wireless charging to receive buck output for mobile phone charging. The materials used in the whole product are very solid and the workmanship is first-class.
